John Paul II International Airport Krakow-Balice (KRK) Information

The John Paul II International Airport Krakow Balice, colloquially known as Krakow Airport, is located in the village of Balice. This is the main air gateway into the southerly Malopolskie Province (the Lesser Poland Voivodeship), handling over three million passengers a year.
The facility is conveniently located on the outskirts of Krakow, with good train, bus and car access. Steeped in history and culture, this city is considered to be one of the oldest cities in
Poland. Nestled along the Vistula River, it has understandably become a popular European vacation destination.
The airport has two terminals, the International Terminal (T1) and the Domestic Terminal (T2). Over 25 airlines fly in and out of the airport, providing both domestic and international connections. There are scheduled and seasonal flights on offer from Air Berlin, easyJet, EuroLOT, Ryanair and Lufthansa. The top destinations served include the cities of

The John Paul II International Airport Krakow-Balice is approximately 11 km / 7 miles to the west of Krakow, but just less than a kilometre south of Balice. From the grounds, it is easy to access the major E40 and E77 motorways, which provide access to the south and west of Poland.
Facilities:

- The International Terminal offers plenty of eateries and cafés, including Coffee Minute, and the Panorama Café & Bistro Restaurant

- There are plenty of additional shops to choose from in the International Terminal, including Euroshop, Relay and S&A Jewellery
- Car hire companies are located on Level 0 and include Avis, Budget, Dollar, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt and National
- A tourist information desk is situated on Level 0
- Business services are on offer at the Business Lounge and VIP Service area in the International Terminal
- Car parking is situated adjacent to the terminal and comes in the form of one outdoor and one multi-storey facility
Cars
The A4 / E40 motorway south provides the easiest access to the city of Krakow - turn off at Bielany and join the Mirowska (Route 780). From here, you will pass by Przegorzaly, Smok, Zwierzyniec, Debniki and Kazimierz. The drive into the city centre takes about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the final destination. Of note, taking the A4 / E452 motorway west provides direct access to the city of Chrzanow.
Buses
A public bus service operated by Agglomeration Bus Lines is available at the airport, with three bus routes in operation, namely the 208, the 292 and the 902. The bus stop is located adjacent to the International and Domestic terminals. Bus times vary depending on the time and the day, with schedule information being readily available at the information desk.
Trains
The train is a convenient transportation option from the airport to Krakow, since the train station is located just 200 metres / 655 feet from the International Terminal. Visitors can use the free shuttle bus service from the terminal to the train station. From the airport station, the train journey takes in the region of 20 minutes, and connects both the city's Krakow Lobzow and Krakow Glówny railway stations. This service departs the airport roughly every 30 minutes.

Taxis are on hand just outside the International and Domestic terminal buildings. The official taxi provider is Radio Taxi 19191, which offers a 24-hour pick-up service. While the journey to Balice takes less than ten minutes, the cab ride into Krakow can take between 30 and 45 minutes, depending on traffic.
